ONCE  UPON  A  LIFETIME

A man was at an alter at a little church one day –
When I happened in and this is what I heard him pray,
Once upon a lifetime Lord, I knew You long ago –
Once upon a lifetime, I felt Your love for me glow,
Once upon a lifetime, a whole lifetime ago –
Now my life is troubled, filled with so much sin,
I haven’t talked to You, in I really don’t know when –
So if You turn away now and pretend not to hear,
I can’t blame You Lord, for I’ve not stayed very near –
But Lord, I’ll try to talk awhile, for I’ve nowhere else to turn,
I guess it’s taken this trouble Lord, to make this ole heart yearn –
Yearn enough to bow my knees, and seek out Your love,
To ask for Your forgiveness Lord, are You listening up there above –
I can’t believe You’re not, cause You’re hearts too full of love,
I’ve finally hit the bottom, my heart has been so hard – softness, not a trace –
But these tears are real and as they course down this ole face,
They tell You Lord I’m broken, please don’t turn me away –
I’m sorry Lord, so sorry, that from You, so far I did stray,
Please Lord, let me come back to you –
Come back to You today,
Thank You Lord for hearing me;
Thank You Lord, for once again, setting me free.

Title Proves God Is the Same Today, Yesterday, and Forever

Author expounds on Scripture in a unique way—through rhyme

LONGWOOD, FL—Fresh from the mind of author Denise Jeter comes a book that takes a unique look at some of the Bible’s spiritual truths. In the author’s new release, Apples of Gold: A Devotional in Rhyme ($16.99, paperback, 978-1-61579-135-4), she expounds on Scripture in an entirely new way—through rhyme. Many of the truths contained in this book have the power to break bondages and strongholds that readers may have been struggling with for years—and many of them will cause readers to see Satan’s tricks before they fall victim to them. The book will prove to readers that God is indeed the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Says Jeter, “[I want readers to know] that the letter killeth and the spirit maketh alive. God can and will speak to them through Scripture for their everyday life and struggles. I teach in rhyme the things I have learned through my mistakes, my fastings, my deep seeking of the Lord, and my very hard trials.”

Jeter, who grew up outside Houston , never knew who Jesus was or the extent of what He could do until the age of 33, when she met Him in a prayer of desperation. From that point on, He took her on a journey of spiritual warfare and a discovery of truth that she would not have believed possible had it not happened to her. It wasn’t easy, however; after coming to the Lord, she fasted, fought, and prayed her way through the spiritual warfare she was thrust into at the time she was saved. These experiences inspired her to speak the truth in love through her writing by helping others grappling with these same issues to look to God to deliver them from trials and tribulations.

IN   JUST  ONE  WEEK

He’s coming, He’s coming, the crowd did cry –
As waving palm leaves, they watched the man on the donkey ride by,
Some climbed trees, to be able to see –
This man, this man of Galilee;
But some just looked, their faces tight and still –
And hid in their hearts – the want to kill.
The start of this week, had only just begun –
As most of the crowd cheered on and praises were sung;
Near the end of the week though, most of the crowd seemed to change –
Anger was there, and a death was arranged,
Arranged for our Lord Jesus, the King of the Jew –
And sorrow filled the hearts of only a few;
Now it was kill Him, kill Him the people cried –
When only the week before, they had cheered as He rode by,
Oh, see what can happen in only one week –
The people cheering, then anger, then death they were to seek;
This was God’s plan, so we, could of sin, be free –
Oh, what a price our Lord paid, for you and me,
The first of the week, He had known what was coming, and yet on He had rode-
Oh, how much love, in our Lord’s heart does abode,
For us who are sinners, from the start –
Yes, He died so that we would never, from Him, have to depart,
So we could live together for always, oh how sweet ;
Oh, see what can happen in just one week.
